Logitech for Business

CollabOS 1.7–1.12

Integrated with popular video conferencing and scheduling services, CollabOS is the unifying operating system running on Logitech's video collaboration devices. With CollabOS, these devices work seamlessly together, continuously improve, and are easier than ever to manage and deploy.

I joined Logitech for Business to lead the design direction of CollabOS, our in-house operating system based on Android, which powered all devices in our B2B lineup: Rally Bar family, Tap IP and Scheduler, and Logi Dock Flex. It was already quite stable and refined, so my primary focus was adding new features and tweaking some rough edges that we discovered while talking to our customers. As the sole designer on the team, my work was pretty hands-on. We shipped almost a hundred features and small improvements and have already started working on the next generation of CollabOS.

Camera Zone

Logitech’s device intelligence enables a variety of different options to focus and frame in-room participants. But what happens when a meeting room has glass windows or walls, and there are people standing just outside the glass panels? From the camera’s perspective, these outsiders look like they are also participants in the meeting.

Our team decided to tackle this issue with Camera Zone. It enables IT admins to define the dimensions of the camera's frame in each room, specifying depth and left/right edges. I created several prototypes to user-test the ideas, and we settled on this one, which struck a sweet spot in terms of visual design and UX and was relatively easy for developers to implement.

With Camera Zone eliminating out-of-room distraction, employees can fully focus on the relevant in-room action, keeping meetings productive and professional.

Reporting issues

This task was crucial as it would not only make it easier for IT admins to report any issues with video or audio but also enable our Support Team to respond faster, having all the technical information for the device from the first touchpoint with the customer. We began with the reporting of audio issues and have already seen good results in improving response time and overall customer satisfaction.

Nearly a hundred small quality-of-life improvements

We always talk to our customers, so we have a long list of items in our backlog. We prioritise and address major issues as quickly as possible but also pay attention to small quality-of-life improvements. Collectively, these changes make a huge difference in the lives of IT admins.

And we don't forget to have some fun, even with B2B software. This was a bit of a cheeky move, but our users love this animation :)
